Location: Guayabo Island is located some 8 Km. South of Puntarenas. There are two Negritos Islands, one East of the other one and are separated by the Montague Canal. They are located at only 500 m. of the Gulf's East coast, about 13 Km. Northeast of Puntarenas. Importance: They were established as biological reserves in order to preserve plentiful populations of marine birds, its flora and fauna and to guarantee that so much natural beauty could be permanently enjoyed.
